Frequently asked questions to help you prepare for your visit

Is Dr. Brauer board certified?

Dr. Brauer received his board certification in Dermatology after:

Graduating medical school (U of Penn SOM seal), completing a year of internship in Internal Medicine, completing a three year residency in Dermatology, and passing the American Board of Dermatology examination.

 

After Dr. Brauer obtained his board certification in Dermatology, he completed two additional years of fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstruction, laser surgery, and cosmetic dermatology.

Who performs the cosmetic and surgical procedures?

All procedures are performed by Dr. Brauer.

The entire patient care team is involved in your treatment experience – from initial consultation through follow up visits – however it will be Dr. Brauer holding the needle or device when the time comes for your treatment. Please contact the office to learn more about available procedures

Does Dr. Brauer participate with insurance?

Yes, Dr. Brauer participates with most major insurance carriers. Not all conditions and procedures are covered by insurance.

Please contact the office to confirm that Dr. Brauer accepts your particular plan, and to see if a referral or prior authorization might be required before scheduling your appointment.

Will I have a scar after my skin cancer surgery?

Many times, the site of the initial biopsy is visible because of a small scar left behind from the minimally invasive procedure. So the true answer is – there likely already is a scar!  However, it is very important that you meet with Dr. Brauer for a surgical consultation ahead of your scheduled procedure so that you can review all expectations – including scarring – and receive answers to all of your questions.

Additionally, Dr. Brauer is sought after for his interest and expertise in minimally invasive techniques for the improvement in the appearance and texture of scarring.

Is Spectrum Skin and Laser Handicap Accessible?

Yes, the space was designed with all of our patients in mind. Handicap parking spaces and a ramp are located just outside the rear entrance to the building.

An elevator is available to take you to the second floor suite, where a handicap accessible restroom is located in the hallway outside of the space. Should you have any additional questions regarding access and your specific needs please contact us.
